Last night DH@damienjbyrne and DS21 and DS15 headed out to see Oppenheimer. As part of DS15's history, we've been reading "Tragedy and Hope" and we are currently reading the section on the "New Age". DS15 hasn't been a fan of this book, it's dense and it is university level, but after starting to read it myself, I decided it would be a useful addition to his education. By the time we finish it (hopefully at the end of the year at latest) we will have been using it for history for approximately 18months. Covering WW1, WW2 and more modern history up to approximately 1970.
Anyhow I was commenting on this because after seeing "Oppenheimer" yesterday DS15, finally saw the use of us reading this book, as we are currently reading about the issues around atomic, hydrogen bombs, communism and Robert J. Oppenheimer keeps making an appearance. The book helped to give historical context to Oppenheimer in this time, and the movie helped to add to what we are learning at home for history.

"The six lesson school teacher", a great article, covering what school actually teaches your child.
